ali-s
Please has anyone got any recipe ideas for Turnips. I have a bumper crop of them and don't know what to do
Geoid
You could make it into a soup

Mrs Blue Sky
Turnips are LOVELY grated raw into a salad, just as you might grate a bit of carrot in...
Mrs Blue Sky
Mr Neep's website looks like it's all about swedes to me... When I said grate a bit of turnip into your salad I meant the nice little white chaps with a purpley tinge to the top - please don't eat raw swede on my account! Swede: Big, the size of two fists, purple outside, yellow flesh when cooked. Turnip: Smaller, about the size of a satsuma, white with a purple tinge, tastes of hazlenuts. Is this a north/south thing? ali-s
I have grown the white ones with a purple top
Mrs Blue Sky
I am glad to hear it! Swedes are lovely, but not lovely enough to do raw. But I still think Mr Neep is growing swedes - I truly doubt that you can get a good chip off a turnip!

Egluntyne
This picture from the Mr Neeps site definitely shows purple turnips not orange swedes although they are clearly not babies, but I think you'd be OK to use the recipes for you glut of turnips. Neeps are Turnips in Scotland and Oop North and swedes Dahn Sarth. If in doubt....give 'em a ring. I made the Quick Turnip Soup ages ago. It was ok.
