Eggy Bread
Ok, so I'm going to stay with my parents for a long weekend next week and plan to take the girls with me, is it ok to transport them in the eglu itself or do I need to put them in something else? Thanks for any help!
Christian
I would put them in a large cardboard box with air holes in. You could always put the roosting bars in with some straw to make them comfy. travel scrabble is always popular with ours!
Eggy Bread
Thanks for the advice, do you put anything over the top, mine would jump straight out?? I'm sure they would much prefer to help drive than sit in the boot!
Egluntyne
Yes...put a lid on the box....with air holes. They will go into drowsy mode once they are in the boxes so don't worry about them leaping about ....as long as there is a lid over them! SarahJo
Pet carrier, or box - hay/shavings and dark are all thats required. If a long journey access to water would be ideal. Make sure air holes, and if in a pet carrier, cover with a blanket, to make a bit darker.
Couperwife
when we got our chooks we used our cat box. they just sat down and chilled out for the journey. the handle was really useful so we didnt get pecked or worry about dropping them there was another person at farm where we got our chookies from, and he looked quite envious at out boxes and asked if his box would be strong enough - im sure that it was fine, but he seemed a bit worried
