poachedegg
We, (DH, me & DD, 10) are going to Barcelona for 2 nights in April and I'm looking for any recommendations for hotels. I do like a modern and clean hotel and hopefully near Ramblas, so any ideas would be fab.
Sammiboo
14 months ago we stayed 3 - 4 nights at: http://www.hilton.co.uk/diagonalmar Although wasnt near ramblas it was very nice We then stayed one night at http://www.eurostarshotels.co.uk/eurostars-cristal-palace.html?gclid=CPP1pcbvsa0CFZMhtAodWC3Vug which was just off las ramblas. We were going on a cruise so wanted to be fairly near the port. I adored Barcelona, have you been before?

DH took ES for passing his GCSEs to watch Barcelona play football - but I haven't been before, so we decided to have a little trip with DD there. Sammiboo
Its fabulous. You need to go on the trip buses. Gaudi park is great!
freddie
There is a tapas bar called Xolla, I think, in the streets behind the building with all the umbrellas on it, the food was totally incredible, so much so that I still drool at the thought of it. The subway trian system is amazingly good, and a T10 ticket at 8 euro gives you ten trips. We shared a ticket, and just bought a new one when we needed to. Stunning city, loads to see and do, enjoyed it immensely. Wouldn't worry to much about going to the Macba(modern art), very disappointing!Friend went to one of the deco houses, (the one with the amazing chimneys, and is still swooning over it, wish I'd gone to that instead! Have a lovely time! we booked an apartment, as there were 6, and it suited us well

alih
The Hotel Turin is fantastic- we stayed in 2009 - just off the Ramblas so very quiet but very central and modern and clean. Room was small but had a little balcony and for location and peace you could not ask for more....
Lesley
My daughter and son in law stay in an apartment block on a crossroads on Ramblas - the view is all along Ramblas. They're off there next week as it is her birthday........one with a 0 on the end I'll ask her for the link, they've stayed there a few times. Edit - here it is.... http://www.apartime.com/barcelona-apartments/las-ramblas-penthouse.html
poachedegg
Thanks for all your suggestions and I have looked at them all; we decided to go for an apartment as they are much larger than a hotel room and are better value. I looked at the link Lesley gave; however they were booked for our dates.
