lillybettybabs
My three babies are now 19 wks old now, I have read that you should keep them on growers until they start laying. With them being pure breeds i guess they won't lay until the spring now so should i keep them on growers until then or gradually swap them over? craftyhunnypie
I usually start introducing a few layers pellets in with the growers at around 16 - 17 weeks - just a sprinkle / handful mixed in. By 19 to 20 weeks they are usually fully on layers ready for the first egg! Emma.x
Griffin
Alot depends on the breed too, my Brahma pullet has been really wobbly on her great big legs as they grow, and despite her being technically old enough for layers, as she's so far off laying and in my opinion in need of the extra nutrients from growers for the task of growing anyway I'm in no hurry to get her off growers pellets. I don't generally feed pellets anyway but I'd wait until they crouch, at least you know they're about to lay then.
Lewis
You're right she probably won't lay until Fed but I've had a couple of bantie eggs this last week so somethings made them change their minds! She should be fine on which ever so I'd just use what growers you have and intro Layers as you're ready
Redwing
either would be ok at that age Personally I am a big fan of growers pellets and use them where at all possible
