Still no eggs

Recommended Posts

Got SEVEN eggs yesterday (from 11 ladies, including an ancient ex-batt who just lays the odd soft egg). So as of yesterday, both araucanas are laying, at least one of the cream legbars, the Welsummer and Ena the only survivor of the original hybrids. Don't think the maran is laying yet unless her eggs have got substantially paler - can this happen?

It's so nice to see their combs all red and perky again - and great to be able to give away more eggs.

A week of beautiful weather, chooks happily dust bathing in the sun, everything perfect BUT.......though the big girls are managing 4 eggs from 5 hens pretty much every day, I've not seen a bantam egg since October.

We have more than enough eggs for our own needs, but I raised £120 for Christian aid by offering them for donations at my church last year - and I'd love to equal or out strip that this year....

Any tips for encouraging them? They were wormed in January, & as their "sisters" are laying merrily I'm assuming that all is well with their diet (I don't do many treats anyway - so it's basically layers pellets & whatever they find when free ranging)..they are happy & interested in life. Just NO eggs. Too posh to push? or do I just need more patience than I currently have?
