chickenopolis
I like to think our girls want for nothing......but having put out some bird seed on the bird feeder, all 3 girls crowded round me. I offered them so, they weren't interested. The minute the birds get on the bird table and bird seed falls to the floor, the girls can't get enough of it. The neighbours must think I starve them!!! jackian
If I am running out of mealworms , I mix them with bird seed. When 2 of my girls are out FR they hang about under the bird table and have been known to bump their fluffy knickers against the bird table so the seeds fall down... But other times it's "Oh! Is that all there is ? Oh well better than nothing"
Ain't Nobody Here
The minute there's a bird on our feeders, the girls all crowd round waiting for the spillage . Whoever said chickens were stupid .
Chortle Chook
I use Robin feed for my wild birds and the chickens just adore the sun flower seed kernals so when I put out the bird food I let them have a few. I know they are fattening but as it is so cold right now I think a little fat won't harm them. Do say if I'm wrong and it is bad for them. Henslaved
Do say if I'm wrong and it is bad for them. I hope not , my 3 get a few handfuls of wild bird seed thrown around the grass before bed and they love it. It seems to make the black in Muppets feathers glisten . ilovechickens
When I let mine out in the mornings the first they do is run for the birdfeeder-they dash past their food/water etc and wait for the little birdies to spill some bird seed!! It's quite pathetic really! Ooh and the quails go potty for the stuff too!
