stehaggan
I've seen them in a few magazines over the last year and was in Wilkos at the weekend. They had 2 bare root plants for £2.29 so I have bough a packet to see how they get on. Has anyone tried them? I have done a bit of googling and have found they taste like pineapple and are nicknamed pineberries. I take it they throw out runners like normal strawbs? So that if they are tasty, I can expand the bed?
Cinnamon
We sold them where I work last year - they are nice, but I prefer the usual strawberry taste
chickenanne2
Apparantly birds tend to leave them alone, which has got to be a big plus - no need to net them!
sjp
I've grown white alpine strawberries and I do prefer them to the red ones chickens either like them or hate them as for runners the alpine ones don't tend to have them
