SeramaSilly
We're moving house in a few weeks and whilst I was trying to make the house more saleable I bought a cheap chandelier to put up on the landing because it was dark there. The electrician charged £80 an hour and just managed to fit it in the hour otherwise we would have had to pay £160!!!! We have two really lovely chandeliers and a 1930's light-fitting which we want to take with us but I'm dreading the cost! Is £80 an hour the norm - does anyone have any experience of this?? Redwing
Ours charges about £50 an hour but he is close by so if we can get him on his way to/from other jobs we normally get a better deal
scubababe
Ours is a friend so we get 'mates rates'. Unfortunately anywhere between 60 - 90 is normal. Shop around and be prepared to barter....work is work at the end of the day and I bet if you said you've been quoted 'x' amount they will re-negotiate their rate to get the job.
