Alis girls
My last Omlet girl Jez doesnt look well. She last laid 2 days ago - very spasmodic now but she must be 2.5- 3 yrs old - so assuming not egg bound. Bum is clean, wormed last month - I suspect its old age or something internal. She hate being picked up and sadly I have to go to work but will try and grab her later. Shes been a fantastic layer but was always flighty and difficult to catch - tended to wait till nightfall which isnt the best time but its the only time we could get her. Alis girls
Thanks Plum - I am bewildered - yesterday she was tail down - couldnt find anything abnormal - I frankly expected her to be dead this a.m. Then in the evening she perked up - tail was up - this morning shes laid - i was worred re calcium intake so got someothing from Omlet to add to feed - the eggs are long, ridged but proper eggs with yolks. A few weeks back they were brittle and empty. Puzzled - dont mind her not laying as shes done us proud - just want her to enjoy retirement and hopefullyd die of old age in her sleep (not yet mind) and not suffer like her sisters. Plum
Good to hear she's brightened up. Have you listened to her breathing to check for respiratory infection? What are you saying was in the brittle eggs. Mine sometimes does just white.
Alis girls
Well nothing - couldnt see any remains of yolk like she'd eaten it like there was before when she had a munch at an egg - not listened to breathing no - will do that tommorrow if i can catch her. OH trying to be helpful (hes getting more chickeney) said "her crop looks red" - blimey i thought how can he see that - then he said "you know the thing on her head" daft thing - thought he was getting my chickeyified - obviously not
