Healing wound

Recommended Posts

My chicken Popcorn had a huge hole about the size of a 2p at the base of her tail caused by pecking on monday, its now scabbed over but Im wondering how long I should leave it before reintegrating her with the rest of the girls. The last thing I want is for them to peck it open again...

I have had her outside yesterday in a separate run so they could all see each other, and she managed to get over the netting and join them..but I saw one of the girls take a slight peck at her wound, and then fished her out again just in case.

Has anyone else had a serious wound that needed to heal, who can tell me how long it may take?

I bit the bullet today, and sprayed Popcorns rear end with purple spray and then popped her out in a separate run to the other girls, but she ran the gauntlet with the electric fencing to get to them!!

I put a Bumpa bit on the offending chicken, using circlip plyers..... then my other half and I went to dig out space for three raised beds, and took all the girls out with us... they had such fun, even Tower with her new bumpa bit ( we fed worms to her as she wasnt quite as quick on the uptake initially) at corn time they all followed me down the garden to the WIR and that was it, all ready for bed, they all hopped in together so fingers crossed all goes well overnight and tomorrow.

Thanks for all your support, it has been so helpful and Im most grateful.
