I need advice on the new style super glug please. I have the old one with the nipple drinkers but they now leak. Has anyone got the new one and how do the girls drink from it? Do they just go in through the top?!

My chooks never took to the nipples so using tap washers and screws I sealled them up and the chooks drink out of the top. The new style are the same minus the nipples.

This is my girls favourite drinker.

 

They had the drinker that came with the go, which was fine until we built the WIR with vertical walls and the change in angle was rubbing the feathers off their throats.

They also have the "boobies", glug and a free standing gravity one in their FR area.

 

It is always the superglug that needs topping up first. The opening is nicely rounded aswell so they can get their heads right in without rubbing feathers at all.

Why don't you try lowering the superglug you have so that the girls can only drink from the top of it, just to get them used to it - I'm sure they'll work it out in no time at all? (Wonder if you could fix the leaks with silicone sealer or similar - or I think spare nipples are available from Omlet?)

The superglug my hens have leaked through the nipples & I contacted Omlet who sent me out some new ones free of charge

Thanks everyone. I've ordered a new purple and orange super glug as the price between that and the 'boobies' one is minimal. Hopeful of a hot summer now.
