The Dogmother
Get pure breed bantams wayne, I have 8 - you don't get so many eggs, and perhaps none for a while in the winter, but they are so lovely, don't damage your garden so much and have lovely personalities. You can see my album in my sig below and also at http://s90.photobucket.com/albums/k272/Claret_63/

I know this is a really stupid question but is that what they are called because i've never heard of them before and really want some of those now !! The Dogmother
That's fine wayne, post as many links as you like. If you email them to barbara@omlet.co.uk then she'll add them to her list of stockists. They can live for up to 8 years as they're not stressed by the constant egg-laying that hybrids do. You have to be prepared for them to go broody though; there are tips elsewhere on the forum for dealing with this. My girls all have individual personalities and some are more handle-able than others. Two regularly sit on my shoulders and they all mug me for corn! Lovemychooks, the 'barnies' are Barnevelder bantams - I hatched some eggs for Lesley last year and two of them were a pair of barnies, Lesley had the other chick and the male barnie back, but I kept the girl (Betty) because I'd always wanted a barnevelder. Lesley has just hatched some more, so if you want one, try PMing her.
bronze
I have a large barnevelder chick at the moment and its a really lovely natured think especially compared to the Lakenvelder its in with.
The Dogmother
My Betty is a mischievous little thing and still a bit skittish, but she's very pretty and a good layer too.
