The grass is always greener!

Recommended Posts

Today I decided to let my new girls out of the eglu run into their electric fenced free range area. After half an hour scratching about Agnes suddenly flew up over the four foot electric fence and in with the big girls  , who were not amused.

The other two new girls were most distressed at the disappearance of Agnes, but she was perfectly happy joining in with the big girls - unfortunately Fearne took a big dislike to this turn of events and was pecking at Agnes and trying to chase her back to her own side of the fence.

Eventually, with the aid of some bribing corn, I managed to corner Agnes and returned her to the Eglu run where she will have to stay with the others until I can add some height to the fencing.

And of course my pot of tea was stone cold by the time I had done all this  .

Why is the grass always greener?:lol:

Put lines of string around the top of the fence to bring the height to six foot. Clipped Agnes wing. Let them out. And........ Straight through the middle of the string :wall: .

This time Agnes landed in the field and seemed confused about where all the other hens were. I went round to catch her and to my amazement she crouched - yet she doesn't look anywhere near ready to lay yet.

Anyway they are back in the eglu run and I'm back to the drawing board  .
