Olly
er ... do you mean they are laying soft-shelled eggs? Or do the eggs go off really quickly - can you give a bit more information? Seven is a good age even for a pure-breed, so they are probably at or near the end of their laying career.
foreveryoung
nope they are at most a week old and they are rotten - we have the odd softies but normally the girls get those before i get a chance. have checked all eggs before putting them on the tray and there's no cracks, holes......... they are sored in a cool place away from direct sunlight emma x
Olly
My guess would be that, even though the shells look intact, they have a crack or breach in them and are somehow letting in bacteria. Are they quite thin (shells) and papery?

Purplemaniacs
Are you washing the eggs before you store them as this can let the bacteria in. Chrissie
