Extremely Swollen Feet on A Chicken

Recommended Posts

Hello Mr Rhode Island Red, The fact that you have posted on the forum and uploaded photos is evidence that you are concerned for your hens. You have also sought some vetinary advice, thats good too. but without your vet actually seeing your hens foot he/she can only guess as to the root cause of your hens condition.

I have experienced mareks disease and what your hen has is almost certainly not mareks. And she needs to be treated accordingly.

I can possibly understand your reluctance to actually take your hen to a vet in person, so to speak. Possibly you are feeling a bit embarrassed as to how long her symptoms have gone on, possibly you are worried about the expense of treatment. However no vet will be judgemental, they are only concerned for the welfare of their "patients" and possibly if the cost of treatment is prohibative the vet practice may be able to help.

Do please consider these points. We hope to hear how she's doing. Good luck & take care. Alli x
