So, brand new to all of this. Proud dad of 6 lovely chicks who are now 8 weeks old. Should I be putting some sort of bedding into the nesting area yet or is this just pointless until they're close to egg laying time in a couple of months???, would appreciate any advice please....oh, and what material should I be using, straw, cedar chips etc etc??? Thanks in advance!

I've never had young ones in the cube, only the Eglu classic. In my cube, I have aubiose which I try to poo pick each day as the little dears do like to sleep in there. I've also removed the door between the roosting and egg laying area to give my big ones more room. They don't seem to mind.

My 7 week old chicks are in an eglu with a pet base and I have put bedding everywhere, then they can decide where they want to go. Like Patricia I have not had any chicks in a cube but I think I would put bedding in the nest area just so they did not slip on the plastic floor.
