Unsecure chicken perches

Today we had to give my cockerel to a new home as he crowed so much. I hatched him from a iikkle egg

Am very ad but i know i have done the right thing

I know you are sad but such a big WELL DONE for managing to rehome him. Its not easy as I am discovering

We said good bye to our cockerel Onion, as OH couldn't bear his crowing (which was much louder and more frequent this year). The girls don't seem to missing him, but we do (YS sobbed most of yesterday), we have now got 7 Pekin eggs under a broody, with the promise that we can keep 2 hens, all cockerels will go back to the man who had the hatching eggs -phew! I still have Onion's crow as my ring tone on my phone, called 'Onion rings'

Oh and this was the year I wasn't doing any hatching too !

On the plus side we do have two grower cockerels which we are hopefully keeping but I still Miss his friendly nature
