Nacktschnecken omlet Cube

I have three chickens. They had all started laying OK but had dropped off in the last couple of weeks. I had put it down to the very hot weather. I was still getting one or two a day in the coop.

 

But then, today, I found 17 eggs in a bush that they often go in. I've done the freshness test and they're all OK.

 

Is there anything I should do to stop them laying in that bush? It's impractical to cordon off.

 

Think I'll be baking this weekend.

Is it possible to trim off the lower branches of the bush? That way they'll be less inclined to lay in an exposed area.

You may well find that now you have removed the stash your layers will not go there again . . . though that does not mean they'll necessarily choose the nest box. They may find another inconvenient place

I had a chicken who laid a pile of 11 eggs behind a bamboo last summer and I only realised when she did not come into the coop one night having decided to sit on them and hatch them all out. Next place she chose was in a rose bush

Make some lemon curd or strawberry (on offer in Tesco 3.50 for a kilo). Yummy
