One of my first girls started laying eggs with very light yolks, and it turned out she had worms - Flubenvet sorted her out and her eggs became golden and delicious again. Not sure if it was coincidence but might be worth worming them just in case unless they've been done in the last few weeks.

I agree with JS1 - Flubenvet list spale yolks as one of the symptoms of worms. When I say I agree I only mean I read it there, am still learning - but has to be worth a go!

If anyone is near Edinburgh I have just bought a bag of the medicated marriages pellets but there is no way I will use the whole bag!

One of my girls started laying smaller and smaller eggs with pale yolks and then stopped laying altogether, when I examined her I found she had lice which I am currently treating her for.

Is it possible that could be the problem?

thanks for the heads up ,will check her out.if i can catch her !

I know this is an old post but I have had exactly the same problem got three new chickens and two are laying OK but one started laying and then starting laying light colored yolks and has now stopped laying altogether. Just wondered what the outcome of this was...........My chickens are fairly young and I was told I would not need to worm them for 6 months and also if it was lice wouldn't they all have them.

If one had worms wouldnt they all have? I also have a pale yolk layer - but not sure who it is. Not due for worming but I think I will anyway.

I thought that too the same with lice wouldn't they all have them too.......I'm more worried the she has stopped laying .......does that cause them any problems???
