yannovitch
bonjour tout le monde! i just started to think (i think every now and again) and realised that maybe i was going a bit crazy with my two chooks... yes we've had them for 5 weeks i love to go and see them as soon as i am back from work, and give them treats and a cuddle and i speak to them!!! am i mental? do i need therapy? are they just pets who don't care at all? and on a more serious note: could i feed them too many treats? because they rush to us every time we walk in the garden, as if they were starving to death! they even get super noisy about it!! and they are both in lay now, and i don't feel they eat as much of their pellets as i thought... anyway, look at them: they are so cute!! Jules.
When the media was going crazy about bird flu about a year ago I remember seeing film of someone who kept chickens t'other side of the world & he was kissing it. Yeuch, I thought, but now it's all I can do not to kiss my girls myself Especially when she has just laid an egg
Egluntyne
I wouldn't kiss mine either, but I'm totally besotted with them! I've never understood people allowing any pet to slobber all over their faces. My barmy near neighbour is always kissing her dog. I think to myself, that face has been sniffing horrible things when taken for walks and eating revolting (to us) food. It also has the worst breath in the world. It could also turn in a moment and bite her face off. Mind you she's one of these "he wouldn't hurt a fly" types, when the dog is straining at the leash and baring its teeth at you. Off topic. Sorry. chocchick
and on a more serious note: could i feed them too many treats? because they rush to us every time we walk in the garden, as if they were starving to death! They are opportunists and will eat anything you feed to them. Trinny once pounced on a dropped tea-bag on the way to the compost bin. Egg-laying could suffer as the nutrients are in the layers mash/pellets. However I can't resist I talk constantly to OH about little things they do every day, I think he must have been driven mad by now although he just smiles sweetly and listens I think he listens I wish mine were more cuddly

The Pearsons
Just remember they oly love you for one thing - and that is food..... I worked out why my birds make noises at odd times of the day..... Mrs Environmental Health shouts "chook chook chook" at them as she comes and goes!!! It was fine here yesterday and she had washing out so there was an awful lot of noise and a lot of giggles from her as she kept hiding when I went out to try and discover what had set them off!!!!! My other neighbours are on holiday so the girls won't be getting too many treats from that direction for a few days. Helen in Hume
