Ok so this is a wierd question!!

Recommended Posts

Hi all! Hope you can help??

Tonight I got home from work and let the pekins out for their "rumble in the jungle" (free ranging with me pottering about.) But I noticed YUK their favourite spot for a dust bath had a pile of cat poo in it!!!!!! :vom: Probably one of my own lovely boys!!! Naughty kitties!! So, I quickly scooped it out and shooed the pekins off around the garden. I sprinkled a liberal amount of net-tex ground sanitiser over the area and gave it a good mix!!!!!Then I placed a piece of wire mesh over the area!

Will be enough??? Could the pekins go and dustbath there or should I do more first??? Has anyone else ever had this problem?? Not had this happen before and have had the pekins for 10 months now. Sorry to worry, but I'd hate it if they caught something!!!!! :(

Thanks as always! :D

Not weird at all!

I found some fox poop near my girl's coop (grr!) and I disposed of it and put stalosan down. The girls don't personally use that area as a dust bath, but I have no issues with them being in that area. So, if you've cleaned the mess up and sanitised the area, in my opinion it should be OK to be used as a dust bath. If I am wrong, please someone correct me :)

Hi :)

Not long after we'd put our little pekins out full time, one morning after letting them out I noticed one of them showing a great deal of interest in 'something'. I went over and was appalled to see her pecking at a cat poo :shock: (disgusting little hen - she always manages to find revolting water or something she shouldn't eat!)

Our neighbours cat had evidently been curious (she's not done it since).

Anyway I was anxious for a few days (nothing new there) but she was fine. :)

I agree with what the other ladies have said :D

Thanks all for the replies!!! I just worry as I lost a hen to a mysterious illness 6 weeks ago and it has left me a bit paranoid!!!!! So fond of my little gang and just want to do my best for them!!! I'm still on a steep learning curve!! :D

Going to keep putting the wire over the area at night anyway.....better safe than sorry.
