Intro dilemma

Recommended Posts

I have 3 new chickens bought today and are in a separate (purple eglu) and makeshift run. I am going on holiday in 2 weeks and wondered if it's feasible that they would be integrated with my 3 old ones by then? I could spearate the cube and walk in run by putting the eglu in there whilst I am away or do you think they'd be ok in together by then?

When I introduced 2 new girls it took about 3-4 weeks before peace finally happened .We had the run seperated but they could see each other and they did have two seperate coups..I know it depends on each one but I reckon after 2 weeks would be fine. You might get the odd squabble but as long as someone is caring for them I would not worry .

The first time we left ours I had to have photos every day

I find it takes a good couple of months before the 2 groups become one flock but 2 or 3 weeks for the group that 'owns' the property to put up with the new groupb and the new group to accept it as home

if it were me I'd put the new girls in with the older girls tonight after dark if possible then see how they get on tomorrow but more importantly towards the end of the week, but as long as no blood is drawn leave them to it, it want to nice to watch but they need to sort the new pecking order out also put an extrea feeder and drinker in the run for a while
