LilyG
Hi guys, I've currently got 3 chickens. 2 are laying perfectly well and we get 2 eggs most days however the third seems rather under the weather. She hasn't laid for a couple of weeks now but she can often be found sitting in the coop in the day and is straight on the eggs of the other two if I don't remove them straight away. I also noticed today that her abdomen seems quite hard and swollen. She's eating and drinking well, she's not lethargic at all, is very bright eyed and her feathers are nice and glossy. Her poo is also of a normal colour and consistency. But something is definitely not right. Does anyone have any ideas on what could be wrong with her and/or some suggestions on what I could do to help her out. Thanks Lily
Egghead68
It sounds like peritonitis (if her abdomen is swollen with fluid). Please get her to a vet asap. There are various treatments. Some of us have had success with suprelorin implants. She may also need antibiotics.
LilyG
Thanks, I've just called up the vets as she's gone down hill very fast today. We're going up in about an hour.
