I've had the girls nearly a year and a half. So far I've only ever heard one egg song and until today never caught anyone in the act. I've just been out to turf Henrietta out of the nest box as she's broody - for the 5th time this year and Tallulah was in there too. As I lifted the nest box lid up she stood up and out it plopped!!!

That's really interesting, I think I must have surprised Tallulah as she was stood up when her egg came out!

How exciting! I'm around most of the time so I've seen my hens lay quite a few times. It's great.

 

They do stand up to lay, and then they usually sit back down for a while.

I saw one of mine lay, and very quickly apologised to the hen and shut the door i felt like I had just walked in on someone while they are in the bathroom, my OH did ask why I was blushing and apologising profusely to a hen...he just didn't understand that girls need their privacy sometimes
