dutchie
The other day I was completely puzzled why the feathers on my chickens heads and back of their necks were looking terrible. All scrunched up and wet looking. I picked them both up to inspect them and there was some weird slime sticking all their feathers together. Like chicken hair gel!But I couldn't see any problems at the root of the feathers or on their skin. I was a bit worried as I'd not read any symptoms like this of any typical problems. Only later when I came to top up the grub feeder did I discover the cause. A massive slug had taken up residence inside the top of the feeder. So every time the chickens were feeding they were getting a nice coating of hair gel! Dont think I'll be trying it myself

hopingforchickens
One of mine ate a huge slug recently, it was one of the most disgusting things I've ever seen. It took her a long time with a lot of beak wiping to get through it. It seemed like she'd regretted starting by half way through, but refused to give up! counturchickens
I am relieved it was a slug, not some new must have accessory for the girls
dutchie
My girls only go for the smaller slugs, they cant handle the giant ones. This one I chopped in half for them with my trowel so they could get their revenge
