I recently purchased (cube purple) and was waiting for my run extension before getting my girls when out of the blue DH said would we not be better building a WIR on the area we had log rolled off for our cube. So not wanting to let the opportunity pass I set about doing some investigations on here about different setups etc. The pics on here are all fab and I am green with envy  If anyone could provide me with some info on how to securely attach the cube to the WIR I would really appreciate it. Has anyone succeeded in attaching the cube run to a homemade WIR? Does the cube need to be very securely attached with no gaps?

Any help/info much appreciated!

Ooo, how exciting!

My cube just sits pushed up to the run, it's not attached at all. It weighs a ton and even with the high winds earlier this year it didn't move an inch.

Here's a close up, it forgotten how clean it was when I first got it. Doesn't look like that now  And Piper's a lot bigger!

Mine's just pushed up against the run too.

If you want to attach then you're looking at either joining at the mesh below the cube or somehow arranging wire to fit under the plastic edge in the same manner as the cube run does. Remember that the cube roof slides forward too....

I believe mtsatroy wants to join the cube with run to a WIR, I have seen this done on here, I just cannot remember who posted the pic I am thinking of so I can help you.

Lke the previous posters I have my cube (without standard run) just butted up to the WIR, it does work very well like this to be honest, however with the added cube run would would gain a little more space I guess, might be tricky to clean out though depending on how you secured to WIR though?

Oh yes, sorry, I hadn't read that properly.

I can think of a couple of ways to do this then:

1) Remove the end skirt and the door and just push the end up against a gap in the WIR - shouldn't need fixing to the run unless the ground is uneven and a large wedge gap develops between the parts. Might be difficult to clean unless you can already duck through the cube door.

2) As above but remove entire door end panel - may need an additional run support arch to maintain ridgity at the open end. I'd be more inclined to cable tie/run clip this version to the wir if there are the slightest gaps.
