One of my girls, my little bantam, Houdini seems to have developed an intolerance to bark chippings - she's got fluid on the lungs for the second time in a couple of months.

 

We're not sure of the cause, but the vet reckons it *may* be an allergy to spores from the bark chippings. This is quite possible as B&Q's bark chippings often have spores, and Houdini is the most likely to have the problem, being a bantam, she's close to the bark.

 

Now, she's on anti-inflams and Baytril and I want to see if the problem recurs if we use something else. Does anyone know how much Aubiose I'd need to put a reasonable cover on a 6'x9' run? I'd normally use 100l Bark Chippings so need to know how many bags of Aubiose I'd need. (Presumably they're all 20l?)

 

Any ideas?

Yes, they are all 20kg bags. You'd probably need 1-1.5 bales; I don't layer it thickly at all and a kick-board around the edge keeps it from being kicked out.

Is hemcore pretty much the same stuff?

I bought 2 bales of Hemcore in the end - it's on sale locally!
