I noticed that Merrydale poultry is selling POL hens again. Does anyone know what's happened to 'Chicken Dave' in Marsten Trusell? (Northampton/Leicestershire border) He seems to have dropped off the radar...

Merrydale is a different lady now, very nice and chatty when we went to buy the incy and then later other hatching bits from Regency Poultry. We had to have a quick look at the chooks as you do

 

Never heard of Chicken Dave.

Merlina; yes, I've been to Valley Farm - Sonia is very nice. She sells lovely hens, too, for a fair price.

Chicken Dave used to sell interesting hens - purebreeds and hybrids. He was a one man show and quite a character! His birds were very well kept and sold for a very reasonable price, too.

Not heard of Chicken Dave either! There's also Westaway Poultry in Wing (Rutland) if you fancy a trip out our way!

Just googled Valley Farm - John O'Gaunt. Might just have to combine that with a trip to the fab equestrian shop there, what a shame that would be! Didn't realise there was another breeder so near to me - VERY dangerous!

I've been to Westaway Poultry in Wing - about 3 years ago. Are they still up and running? Bought some fertilised eggs from there and had 11 out of 12 eggs hatch. Not bad going.

I believe so. I had heard that he was running his stock down but my neighbour had some hens from him earlier in the year and also went back to see him for some advice a couple of weeks ago, so I think he is still open for business.

Heidi's Hens looks a good place, too- though I've never been. A friend of mine bought her small flock from there and highly recommended it.

I got my three girls from heidi's happy hens and cant recomend them enough. The chickens are lovely and they are so helpful, always there to answer questions and help. Heidi is lovley as are the other staff there. Great place. Weve had our chooks since the beginning of july now and they are just great (i must post some pictures actually!)
