I've been using the deep litter method in my large WIR. It seems to be working well so far and the chickens and ducks love digging around in the bedding.

Should I be using ground sanitizer or would this kill off all the good bugs that keep the litter stable and healthy?

I use salosan to keep smells amd nasties away. It works very well and is easily sprinkled on the top.

Me too, Stalosan, although I end up with pink tinted white silkies.

I change my wood chip every six months. I think it would work well for you though.
