sadietoo
I had to take one of my rescue girls Camilla to the V.E.T this morning.......I noticed her looking unwell on Friday morning, but she often lays softies and so I thought perhaps it was just one of those, but last night when I got in (after the vets closed ) I noticed she was very hunched with what looked to me like a bit of lash sticking out of her derriere.... I gave it a bit of a tug, but whatever it was seemed quite attached, and so not wanting to give the poor girl a prolapse I waited for the vet today. He removed about six inches of lash had a feel around and couldn't see anything else wrong with her. I let her free range with the others when she came back and she did quite a lot of dozing and sunbathing but she's been a bit brighter this afternoon, although initially she was doing masses of watery poos, and even had some water come back up through her beak... However, I've just checked on them to find her jumping up with the others for the sweetcorn hanging in the run and so I'm hoping she is on the mend (fingers crossed) I've removed her to the hospital wing for half an hour or so, where hopefully she will drink some water with avipro in it and I have also given her a bowl of treats to try to encourage her appetite. News on the ground is that the big girls are not happy and are stalking around outside the cage muttering to themselves about how some people get special treatment mealworms and corn and others don't and how life is very unfair...I'm expecting them to be carrying placards the next time I go out there and threatening to go on strike.... johnandkymberley
You have just described my girls too!! Glad to hear Camilla seems to be getting better, I think we (well I am for sure!) suckers for giving special treatment to poorly hens! Hope Camilla is bk to herself soon, xxx
