Where to get Eprinex

Recommended Posts

My chooks are due for their quarterly creepy crawly treatment.

This time, my vet recommended using Eprinex rather than Frontline. Wouldn't hear of it last time I suggested it as it's not registered for use on poultry.

However, she can't supply it for me as it only comes in large quantities and suggested that I ask a dairy farmer for a bit and supplied me with a large syringe to collect it in! I've asked both of my farming neighbours but they don't use it.

I've seen it on-line in a smaller quantity but presume that I'd have to tell them that I want it for use on my poultry?

Wondering where other users get theirs from... any recommendations?

I'm afraid that what you've been asked to do is illegal :? this product is for the bovine market only and can only be given to poultry on the recommendation of a vet prescribing off label. Best see if your vet can prescribe it for you.

Further details/dosage here

Whilst it is very effective against persistent lice and NFM, it isn't licensed for use on poultry in the UK. My farm practice prescribes it for use on my hens though.

Thanks for that,

Blimey, I'm a bit stumped then... my vet wouldn't prescribe it because she could only supply a huge amount!!

I'll perhaps have to try another vet.

Well I hope you have more luck than I did getting some! Interesting posts here though, all very useful, I shall try another vet next time although not much cattle nearby. Mine are ok ish now, but have one query. Surely Eprinex isn't useful as preventative as it has 1 month egg withdrawal? Worth it for acute infestation treatment, but not general use?
