HennyPenny59
Hi everyone .... I keep my 4 girls within 25 metres of netting on grass .... At the moment, I havn't got a new patch of grass I can move them to, as they are still recovering from their last use, and was wondering whether you can sprinkle the Stalosan/Biodry products over the grass/earth, or whether you only use this in the coop and on woodchip etc?? Thankyou

The Dogmother
That's the problem when you're moving them around; you end up with lots of patches of dead grass, especially at this time of year. Unless you have massive grounds I'd be tempted to restrict them to one area and use either Biodry or Stalosan (the former is my favourite as it's not so powdery and doesn't blow around) to sanitise the soil before putting down new litter. Lavenders_Blue
Yes, you can use the ground sanitising powders directly on the ground as you have suggested. I do this in my run which is not covered and I use Stalosan - which as Leanne says does turn everything pink! I put some woodchip down in my run earlier this year and put a good dusting of Stalosan onto the ground before putting the wood chips down. I am also periodically dusting the woodchips with Stalosan and raking it in.
HennyPenny59
Thankyou for your replies .... I don't put anything in their run like woodchip etc, its just grass, so is still ok to use these products? .. Im worried about them ingesting it whilst they are foraging around looking for tasty morsels.
The Dogmother
Neither are toxic to livestock.
