How many Chooks in a classic

Recommended Posts

I have an empty classic at the moment and I am helping out at a Battery Hen rescue later in the month so I may just sneak a few waifs and strays in the boot of the car  How many chickens can I happily fit in a classic. I had two girlys in it previously, is this the maximum? Thanks :D

It depends on the size of the run. Omlet says it can sleep 4 - I have four in my !gored! and they take up about a third of the room when they huddle together and some people on here with walk in runs have 6 in a classic. A standard run can hold 2 comfortably but maybe 3 with free range time.

I had 3 ex batts in my (purple eglu) and they seemed quite happy. Before that and before we had the (cube purple) we had 4 hybrids in the (purple eglu) with an extended run, there was plenty of room in the (purple eglu) with 4 chooks in it at night.

I would go for 4 ex batts, of my 3 one only had a short time with us. Just have Agnes now she has had over 18 months of freedom and lays most days.

We have 5 GNR in a (purple eglu) with extra WIR and they seem quite happy at night all cuddled up together. We did find in the middle of the summer that 2 of the GNR preferred to sleep in the WIR rather than the eglu but as soon as the temperature started to fall they all started cramming in together.
