Fresh Horse Manure

Recommended Posts

The field next to me now has a couple of horses in it and the owners have said we can have the manure, we need to take it away on a regular basis so it will still be quite fresh. I can't really decide the best way to deal with it, I was wondering whether I could spread some over the bed I will be using for beans next year and then rotavate it in the spring, bearing in mind at the moment none of it is more than four months old. Alternatively I could make a separate heap for it and wait for it to rot down, or add it to my compost heap with all the normal garden waste.

Any advice welcome :D .

Ha! Are you poo picking their field? They will be pleased if you are!!!:lol::lol:

If you can I would start a poo pile somewhere, and let it sit for at least a year before spreading it.

No, they do the poo picking and pile it up just over the fence from our garden :D . We need to move it as there is another neighbour who collects everything he can from the village - wood for his wood burner, any manure going for his garden etc etc , so no-one else gets a look in. We were just lucky it is so close to our garden that we were offered it first.
