Unsecure chicken perches

The field next to me now has a couple of horses in it and the owners have said we can have the manure, we need to take it away on a regular basis so it will still be quite fresh. I can't really decide the best way to deal with it, I was wondering whether I could spread some over the bed I will be using for beans next year and then rotavate it in the spring, bearing in mind at the moment none of it is more than four months old. Alternatively I could make a separate heap for it and wait for it to rot down, or add it to my compost heap with all the normal garden waste.

Any advice welcome .

If you can I would start a poo pile somewhere, and let it sit for at least a year before spreading it.

No, they do the poo picking and pile it up just over the fence from our garden . We need to move it as there is another neighbour who collects everything he can from the village - wood for his wood burner, any manure going for his garden etc etc , so no-one else gets a look in. We were just lucky it is so close to our garden that we were offered it first.

I would make a heap of it somewhere and leave it to rot down, you may be ok though with your bean bed idea because it will have broken down before you plant in the late spring.

I expect it will be okay either to put straight onto your beds (especially as you are going to leave it over winter) or to put it in a separate heap to rot down, whichever is simpler for you. Horse manure isn't particularly strong so shouldn't burn your plants.
