i got my big cup cake tin albeit in silicone yesterday. I know some one had made one on here. It says a 6 egg mixture is the best recipe. Any tips please. I was goin to grease and flour it for ease of removal. Its ES's 17th on Friday so want to make in advance. thanks Ali x

Oh that is such an old photo now - so embarrassing. My hair!!! It seems so short there!

The cake was such a mess - ha ha. Just look at the icing running down. Oh it's so funny.

I can't rememebr what sort of a mix I used. I've got a feeling it was my normal mix doubled up..

I normally do 175g of sugar, butter, flour & 3 eggs. So I think I doubled it all up, but I really can't remember.

The mould has never been used since, as I didn't like silicone bakeware.

If it's silicone, don't grease it - I always have to remind myself of this, but they are supposed to perform better without.

I think you have to grease them the first time you use them. Tbh I always use that spray on fat spray and a light dusting of flour even for silicone moulds. I'm not a huge fan but this works for me. The other thing I have to remember is to leave it for at least 15 mins before turning out. This is critical!

I always use cake release spray on mine and leave them till the cake is cold before turning out...

 

The top cooks faster than the bottom tho, so keep your eyes peeled!!! I made a chocolate case for mine from the same mould.....

Thanks so much everyone - and CHP - if mine turns out as good as yours I will be one happy mummy!!Sadly mine want homemade cakes - except when Man U cakes (Boo hiss - leicester girl here) are asked for - i refuse to ice lots of little men playing footie - they would all look like teletubbies the way I ice. I one did a Flick b'day cake (Bugs life) - never again - still got tin somewhere. I will have a bash ( note the word bash )

Well the cake is cooked and cooling. Might have to do a quick trim - otherwise - impressed. I will see if OH can take a pic if it looks ok when done.
