Egg dance alert!!!

Recommended Posts

wahay! Did my first ever Egg dance this morning! Clementine told me off for 2 hours this morning as i cleaned the girls eglu and WIR out, little did i realise that this was because she needed the nestbox! she disappeared straight in and I had my suspicions as she has been squatting for me for a couple of days!! i dont think ive been that excited for years hahaha, better than christmas!

will post pics in a few mins...

:clap::dance::clap::dance: Well done Clementine :dance::clap::dance::clap:

Don't wash the egg it washes away the protective layer. If I have any really mucky ones I do sometimes wipe them just before using.

I have a couple of Wyandotte bantams that I hatched last spring, one layed a few eggs in the autumn so hopefully they will both lay soon.

Lovely pictures thank you for sharing.

thanks Chrissie, i will just give it a quick wipe over with some kitchen paper then as she has kept it so lovely and clean this time! i was quite surprised by the size as its almost as big as some of the shop bought free range ones!

hopefully the other 2 wont be far behind but i think they are a bit younger than Clementine though they do seem to be reddening up in the face a bit!

I was soooo excited as although she had gone into the eglu I wasn't sure whether she was just practising! I looked in but couldn't see anything so put my hand in and was so shocked to touch a perfect little egg! I dropped everything (except the egg) & ran to the door to show OH ('well we were expecting eggs at some point weren't we?') & visiting parents who showed more appreciation :) my first ever egg! Tasted lovely too, so creamy & the yolk was so yellow!

Oh Hayley bug :dance: well done Clementine!! :clap: Such a lovely feeling to get your first egg!! :D We had a big debate in our house, on how I should eat it :lol::lol: and it was very yummy!!! Once you've had your own eggs, no others ever seem as good.

2 of my hatchlings (7 months old now!) are crouching now and so I've opened up the nestbox ( had it blocked off to stop them roosting in there and or going broody!!! :roll: ) and am secretly hopping for an egg........soonish??!!
