Hi

Has anyone else had problems with flooding.

My hens have a lovely hen house and area to live in but with all this rain over last couple months

hen area is flooded. Water doesn't have time to drain before next heavy rains , water has knocked the electric fencing off and flooded hen house.

I've given up and moved my ladies indoos to a nice big stable , least they are nice and dry.

In all the years I've had stables never had fields flooding.

I would like to hear from anyone else who has had this problem or any body elses views on this. I am new to using forum so hope I can reply to any posts

Thanks

Maude

The rain has been exceptional!!! I had to give up moving my cube and run over the lawn as it was becoming a mud bath!!! So had to pick a site and place it there, then fill up the run with wood chip!!! It has worked out really well as at the same time I totally covered the run. So the pekins have been nice and dry!!!!I'm the one getting wet to and fro!!!!

My lawn is still a boggy mess, but hopefully will recover or need re-seeding in places.

Thanks for replying wood chip sounds worth a try but I think first job is to raise hen house mine is old style where main door is to floor that's unfortunaly were water is getting in but my girls seem happy for a while giving me time to sort it out with help from very good friends .

Part of our WIR which is covered was flooded also and we use woodchip which helps a lot. I have wooden coups and they are off the ground by about a foot. ..which at least has stopped them rotting.

I had a dry patio today for the first time for weeks and decided to give it a good clean and now it is wet again .
