Hayleybug
We got a slightly larger than normal egg from Clementine the other day, cracked it open today and this was inside. Unfortunately on the pic the frying pan has a white patch just under the egg but i'm looking at the 'stringy' bit attached to the yolk. OH didnt want to eat it as it looked a bit 'fleshy'. I'm wondering whether it was the start of a double yolker that never developed? it looks like a longer thicker version of the white bits that usually wiggle out from the edge of the yolk into the white. anyone seen this before and know what is it and whether this is just normal? Lewis
It may be some sort of overdeveloped Chalazae? How old is the hen? It may be a sloughed off part of reproductive tract if she is just coming into lay or is an older girl.

Quite glad I didn't insist on it being eaten then!!! It wasn't her first egg but they have been fine since so hopefully it was a one off. Thanks very much for the reply
