So excited it's silly, Miller30 is bringing me 7 pekin eggs to hatch. The theory is to test my chinese mini incubator and the fertility of her lots eggs. Then I give them back once hatched hopefully satisfied at having chicks briefly and getting it out of my system for a little while.

Oooh very exciting! What a fabulous idea, wish there was someone near me who I could do the same with. I'm dying to hatch but don't know what I'd do with any males! Good luck.

Daxigirl......yes lucky you!! All the fun and no worries re-boys!!!!!! I hatched last year.....4 boys & 3 girls!!

That was the same as me last year 7 boys out of 12. So awful about the them that I sold the incubator and said I wouldn't do any more hatching. Then I found this little incy and couldn't resist it. Been looking at eggs for ages and keep managing to talk myself out of it. This was too good an offer from Leanne to miss.

They've just arrived 6 wee Pekin eggs also going to pop the 1 sebright (?) egg in that I got at the show today, no idea if it's a fertile or not.

I love the hatching bit and having chicks but not growers... so am hatching quail

 

A few people have asked me to get them some so no problem finding homes for them, and they're only little so don't take up loads of room.

 

 

What incubator have you gone for?

You got them safe then sarah i did drum into nicks head dont drop them hopefully they will be good got up this morning to find a little lav pekin one of romeos babies looking at me through the incy window leanne

Set them up this morning, still not quite sure about the temp on the incy tried 2 different thermometers in the air hole to make sure it's where it's suposed to be. Just have to watch it I think.

 

It's a little chinese one (says it's very popular amongst the peasants on the write up!) it's model YZ9-7 comes in several colours and was about £35 on ebay.

 

Ooo chickies hatching lovely, well at least you know Romeo isn't a Jaffa now.

Any news yet have you candled sorry im in patient i candle my pekin eggs at day 5 if they are no good i have some more here you can try my porcelain sablepoots have started to lay leanne

No I was planning on doing it on Sunday so they've had a good week to get going.

 

Still not happy about the temperature setting on the incy, although it says 39 on the display the other thermometers read 36 so have decided to stop fiddling with it and leave it alone. (Yes I know the temperature should be 37.5 before anybody jumps on me. just following the instruction sheet.)

Ok put you out of your misery Leanne.

 

There are 3 lav F & 1 lav doing the spiders web thing. The other salmon, lav & my little sebright were blanks. So fingers crossed for the next couple weeks.

Not bad im not worried about the salmon as just put that in as a spare shame about your seabright let me know how you get on im going to fertility test my poots this week hopefully leanne

Hi Sarah how are the chickies coming along are they due the weekend not that im counting or anything leanne.

Oh dear. Candled last night and I'm down to 1 maybe 2. The other 2 look as if they stopped developing not long after the first candling on day 6. Had temperature trials and I don't think the cold at night has helped any. I tried to site it in a draft free bit of the lounge and not opened any windows. Fingers crossed for the other 2.
