sjp
the photo's not ideal but I think a girl. I'd assume a boy would be crowing by now, I've based that on my maran cross boys who haven't started to crow until they were 26 weeks old
good_egg
She is older than 26 weeks, minimum 31 probably 32/33.... Thanks!
miller30
Im gonna say girl the pics not great but cant see any saddle or hackle feathers my french wheaton maran girl has a bigger comb than most girls leanne
LottyJ1
My french maran took ages in the summer to come into lay so she may be waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer and the days a bit longer. When they do start though they are very consistent!
daxigirl
Featherwise she looks girlie (no saddle feathers or long curly tail) also I think that the Marans boys are a bit of a lighter shade of grey. My Eccles who hatched last April has only just had a think about egg laying now, it may have been Kitty though not the dark brown colour I was hoping for. Redwing
She is definitely female. Cuckoo and barred females are always much darker than the males regardless of breed here we go... look at the two on the right, male is lighter than the female. You can pick out the males in this group easily
good_egg
That's good news! Thanks everyone. Redwing, really helpful pic and such lovely chooks. She has started doing a random goose step type movement with her left leg - clearly determined to keep worrying me whatever!
daxigirl
Twitter does that. Wierd isn't it. None of the others do it.
