whitewestie
When I went to clean out the ducks this afternoon I found two lovely white eggs lying in the corner of the duck house. It was a complete surprise. I knew they would come into lay soon but I thought they would wait for the warmer weather. I have never eaten a duck egg so I am looking forward to trying one. I've been told they are lovely for baking so I can see lots of lovely cakes on the horizon. All I can say is well done Geraldine and Jemima
Chortle Chook
Clever Geralding and Jemmima and to have put their eggs in the duck house too! My wee ducks seem to like to put theirs (not that there are all that many) in the most in-accessible places
mollyripkim
Well done, that's lovely. Daisy my call duck started to lay just before Christmas, I think she was a bit confused as some were in the pond but did eventually use the house. Not laying now though. Cheeky Chooky
Congratulations! It's lovely when you first find them isn't it One of our Muscovies has laid us 13 humungous so far and they are the most delicious we've ever tasted My OH has done lots of baking with them and you really can taste the difference
Chortle Chook
Anyone going to keep any eggs to hatch this spring? Baby muscovies would be so sweet
Clunie
I'm hoping to be hatching Indian Runners, but will have to check fertility first. I think Pi (my drake) has been busy, but not sure how well! Also he is favouring the white duck (Jemima) and the other fawn and white (Jessie) runs after him! Perhaps she's confused!
Chortle Chook
Oh poor jilted Jessie If you get any little ones don't forget to share pictures. There's nothing as adorable as a duckling, not even a baby chicken.
