Unsecure chicken perches

I never thought i'd say this, but I think there is currently a fox sunbathing right by my eglu run (containing 5 chickens!!)

 

He/she doesn't seem particularly bothered and my chickens seem quite happy...

That is not uncommon. I'm afraid it doesn't mean he's friendly - the fact that your hens don't seem bothered may indicate that he's a regular visitor, and they are used to him, as my hens have got used to various cats (not all of them mine). He's probably tested the Eglu defences, and knows he can't get in, so he's biding his time until they are out of the run.

 

From his point of view, he probably thinks he is sunbathing in HIS garden!

A friend in London has a fox with sunbathes on their shed roof every day; they daren't let their hens out at all.

No not friendly, just waiting until his dinner is ready for him to take it.

he's sun bathing there because it's a sun trap and is holding/giving off heat I used to get one on my compost heap a few years ago a quick soaking with cold water from the hose pipe moved it on

Methinks he is a patient fox rather than a friendly one
