Take part in study on PFAS 'forever chemicals' in eggs

It was happened yesterday. There was no egg when I checked the nest box in the early morning. You know how the eglu go looks like, there is no chance I can miss an egg if there is any. Around 2:00pm, I found two green eggs in the nest box, one of each was still warm. Then in the evening, I found an other green egg in my garden! I know they were laid by the same hen, because there is only one hen laying green egg. I know it will take about 25 hours to produce an egg. 3 eggs in one day?? Is this even possible?

hi, are you sure the egg in the garden wasnt laid the day before? i wouldnt have said this was possible myself but maybe someone else who is more knowledgeable will come along in a bit! i think someone on here might have had 2 in one day...

Thanks for your reply. I did not let them free range the day before. The egg was laid besides the bucket which I keep the chicken feed. It was a quite obvious spot. I closed the door of the coop when they were free ranging yesterday as I was giving the coop a total clean. Maybe this forced her to lay in the garden? She had never laid in the garden before. However, there is still a chance that she laid in the garden two days ago. Hopefully she won't feel miserable after laying so many eggs.

I have received two eggs in one day from the same chicken on the rare occasion, but never three.

I have had 2 complete eggs followed by several softees in one day... this girl did go on to have an over producing problem that was made worse when eating extra protein, at the time I had ex bats and she wasn't and the ex bats were on increased protein to help with feather regrowth.

During the summer months I have had one egg very early in the morning then another late before bed. I think it takes 13 or 14 hours of daylight for a hen to produce an egg? (please somebody confirm that??!!) So 2 in a day is possible...but Not 3!

had she laid the day before? my girl had but she could still go into hyperdrive.. but i thought "officially" it was 2 or 28 hours...
