Chicken Little layed an egg UPDATE

Recommended Posts

My 4 year old Grandson named her. I got three newbies at the same time - the other two he named Henny Penny and Holly Shiftwell (apparently she is a car in the Cars movie!!) Its a right mouthful to shout all five - the two older girls are Madge and Matilda.

I am so pleased with Chicken Little - she is the most beautiful girl. I have had the newbies since August and everyone got on fine. Then suddenly about 3 weeks ago when I checked her in the morning when I let them out - she was really badly pecked at the top of both wings - there was a bloody mass on each about the size of a golfball. I have tried everything and every time she is nearly healed they peck her again. She has been living in the dog crate for the past few days - in the run. Last night I tried putting her in when they had gone to bed. When I let her out this morning she had been pecked again. I have decided to put her into another run and then get a friend for her. I wouldnt care but when I got the newbies I purchased a new Doodlehouse and sold my Eglu Go because it wasnt big enough - so today my lovely hubby decided to make her a new coop from of a beehive (we recently lost all our bees due to the bad weather). Tomorrow he is going to make a run too and then she can move in.

I am thinking I may get a slightly younger polish frizzle to be her friend. She is so placid and friendly I think she would be ok. Her new house is ready - but I am just waiting for a new run to be delivered this week and then she will be moving in. She seems happy enough and her wings were healing really nicely until the other day when I tried letting her in the run with the other girls. I thought she would be ok cos they had all been out on the lawn together with no problems - but the minute she was in the run they started again.

She has had quite a few cuddles though!!!
