Hello

One of my girls laid an egg today that looked like it had clusters of teeny tiny hard little eggs stuck to it!

I'm assuming its some sort of parasitical worm and would like to treat them with marriages&flubenvet.

However I only have three girls and I would like to avoid the extortionate

£25 vet bill excluding medicine

Is there any way to get a small sack without a vet?

I bought some Marriages layers pellets with flubenvet about 2 weeks ago from Farm and Pet Place (online) They ring you to ask how old your birds are and how many you are treating before they will send it out. Really nice to deal with and quick delivery.

My poor girls run has got quite soggy

Over the winter it's only got a small covered area so I think that's part of the problem

It's our first winter; they used to have a large grassy area but kept escaping into out neighbours garden so had to be enclosed...

Poor girls are in purgatory till the weather improves

I'd treat the run as well as that will potentially be the source of the worm infestation; clear the old litter out, disinfect the ground with Ground Sanitising Powder, BioDry or Stalosan and lay down new litter. If it's possible to cover the run, then a clear tarpaulin is a good idea. Wet litter will promote a worm problem and also fungal foot infections.

Do you recomend having slabs on in the run instead of bare ground?

If you want to lay them, then it is easier to clean.

Sounds like it, doesn't it? One of mine lays 'barnacle eggs' too.

They're not part of the egg and like teeny tiny balls !

I've seen calcium deposited before
