mollyripkim
I am sure you all know this already but my poor little Gertie who is heavily feathered down her legs and feet starting limping a couple of days ago but I couldn't feel or see anything obviously wrong so took her to the vet this morning. Right at the top of her leg completely covered by feathers was a leg ring embedded in her flesh. She is going to have a whiff of gas so they can cut it out so hopefully with antibiotics it will heal up. I feel so awful about it as the vet said she must have come to me with it on (she is 3 years old) so it must have been painful for a while but the vet said they are very good at hiding things. Needless to say the others have all been checked out.
Plum
Heck how awful for you. It happened gradually over the years so my not have been painful until it started restricting her movement recently and then you acted promptly so try not to feel too bad. mollyripkim
Thank you, that makes me feel better as I did feel really upset about it. She is doing really well, on a stronger lot of antibiotics as at her second check it was still horrible but looks a lot better this morning and she isn't limping so I'm hoping she will make a good recovery. Leicester_H
Thanks for warning. Wouldn't it be like some peoples wedding rings - they sometimes become 'embedded' over the years - they aren't painful. Hope she recovers well - please keep us all updated. H
mollyripkim
Pleased to report that although she now has an odd bump at the top of her leg she is totally back to normal, considering how awful it looked I am amazed she made such a good recovery. I don't like throwing so many eggs away due to the antibiotics but worth it as she is such a character.
