Bantam hatching in eglu

Definitely take the bars out and rig up something along the lower edge of the Eglu run to prevent the tiny chicks from escaping through the mesh. I use lengths of linkabord.

 

I'd also put something in front of the Eglu door to act as a step, as the chicks will struggle to get into the Eglu at first. I used a thin paving brick.

Agreed. I also use some of the non-slip matting inside the Eglu for the first week so they don't get splay legs. Never had a problem hatching in one.
