good_egg
I'm sure I read in some book or other that chickens dust bath about very other day... Mine have not read this book. Especially Dorothy. Every day when I let them out she heads straight for a flower bed and has a good bathe. Then the rest join in... It also looks like they do it in their run and in the dust bath provided... Should I be worried? Can't see any nasties and they were frontlined a few weeks ago...
gavclojak
Oh my 5 ex batts who I have had three weeks seem to spend ages in the dust bath, as soon as one gets in all the others run over to see what's going in, when I let them in to my garden they go straight to the dirt and start digging a dust bath too, not sure what is normal or not as I am new to this but i scatter a bit of diatom powder in the bath and hope for the best:)
Sireewiree
Mine spend hours in the dust around the stump of an old tree in my garden. They seem to absolutely love it, and they've never suffered with any mites etc. Wouldn't worry, especially in this warm weather when mites can be rife. Think they just love it! Lavenders_Blue
I think they just do it when they feel like it to be honest!
auntielizzie
I think they can quite safely be permitted to dust bathe whenever they fancy it - they do love it so much
