Just one thing after another.

Well, first Suzie was in the broody cage, then Gemma had an attempt at being broody and fortunately failed, then Lucie got a wobbly head, my elderly dog might be poorly and now Queenie has layed 2 softies - one today and one the day before yesterday. On top of that none of the babies have layed an egg over the last couple of days - apart from Queenie's softy - I know they are not babies as they are all over a year now but they are small and sweet and younger than the other 2 :D

They have egg shell and grit in those galley pots.

I wasn't sure if Queenie was broody or not although she felt quite warm, raised her feathers up at me and sat in the nest box for a long time. But I think she was sat for a long time trying to lay the softies.

She has layed eggs since January, which I wasn't expecting so early, so that is almost 6 months of laying an egg almost every day.

Is she a bit tired now maybe ?

I didn't want to put tonic in the water because Lucie is on antibiotics.

What can I give Queenie to help her ?

The weather has turned, which doesn't help with laying.

I see you have pekins; they aren't known as great layers TBH, I always have a couple in the flock and they tend to be kept for amusement value or as broody mums.

I presume that you're worming them quarterly with Flubenvet, and feeding well with very few treats...?

Yes I worm them with Flubenvet every 3 months and they are fed on Garvo layers pellets.

They get a few treats every now and then usually meal worms - not corn for the summer as I read that makes broodies hotter - and they have been having chicory that I grew for them sometimes.
