We just got our gorgeous girls yesterday afternoon and already have an egg from Liquorice. Couldn't believe after less than 24 hours we had our first egg. So so proud of her. It was small but perfectly formed and pinkish with a slightly lilac tint towards the pointed end. Is this the standard egg colour for Rhode Rocks? I don't know why but I just expected that beige brown sort of colour so very happy it's a different colour. This is not only these girls first eggs but my first hens so will they keep laying the same colour eggs or can the first few be a different colour? It was so unusual and pretty. I hope she keeps laying that colour as I've never seen it in an egg before. Well done Liquorice  oh and my 3 year old son had first dibs on the eggs and I have it on good authority it was very tasty :)

It was a gorgeous egg. Clearly just a one off colour wise (she obviously wanted to make our first egg even more special). We've had 2 more eggs from her and they are both the sort of colour I expected they would be originally. They all taste the same though so colour doesn't really matter. Caramel has also started laying. 2 so far from her. Her eggs are about the same size. Hopefully won't be too long before they start getting a bit bigger (and Beetroot starts laying). I'm so proud of my girls for settling in so quickly and giving us the lovely gift of eggs as well as keeping us entertained.
